Words & Actions

It has been busy around the area today. There was an Iris street parade which happened in the middle of the day. It practically grounded us at home and we waited until it was over to go out. There was also a peaceful Pro-life protest here in Salem. We stayed around and didn’t venture to a new city. We ended up heading to a Chinese buffet. I only had a couple of plates- mainly protein so I did not stuff myself. I suppose all the sodium (MSG) intake made me take a nap. I don’t remember what time I fell asleep. It’s still somewhat bright even though it’s close to 9 PM!

I’ve been trying to avoid talking about politics lately but this one is hard for me to ignore. There’s this young politician who happens to be the face of Socialism and though seemingly influential, she clearly has no idea what Socialism does to a country. That is what happens to a person who is so sold into an ideology but is completely out of touch with reality. It is understandable though. Should this woman get her way, she’d be in the ruling class and most of what she peddles won’t apply to her. Even now, Bernie Sanders (her mentor), is clearly enjoying the fruits of Capitalism while pushing Socialism. It is sad to see people who invoke biblical precepts whenever it’s convenient for them when 99% of the time, these very same people clearly do NOT abide by the Bible at all which is evident with the policies they push.

Psalm 15

A psalm of David.

Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
    Who may live on your holy mountain?

The one whose walk is blameless,
    who does what is righteous,
    who speaks the truth from their heart;
whose tongue utters no slander,
    who does no wrong to a neighbor,
    and casts no slur on others;
who despises a vile person
    but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
    and does not change their mind;
5 who lends money to the poor without interest;
    who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

Whoever does these things
    will never be shaken.

The politician I am talking about mentioned usury to call out Christians to support a bill she’s promoting, “Looking forward to having the religious right uphold their principles + sign onto my bill. Unless of course they’re only invoking religion to punish women + queer people.”

If we are to line up everything she stands for against the chapter above and the entire Bible, it shows us that we should be more wary about believing people who tell us one thing and does another.
